August means back to school for many high schoolers here in Nashville. With a return to school, comes many opportunities- academic, extracurricular, and social. It’s easy to become so focused on catching up with friends, meeting homework demands and attending after school practices, that some basic self-care can get left behind. As you rise to meet the demands of a new school years, don’t forget the importance of sleep. Adolescence, more than almost any other life-stage, is a stage that requires lots of sleep. If you notice yourself having trouble concentrating or recalling information the next day in class, lack of sleep could be the culprit! Working to schedule your time so that you can get at least 8 hours of sleep a night can help you start your school year of in a healthful way. Plan now to take care of yourself!
